The Long Trip 2008
 “ Land’s End to John O’ Groats”

In May this year Members of the F.B.O.C. took to the roads to do “The Long Trip- Land’s End to John O’ Groats” . Member Stuart Elkes had the idea for the trip in 2007. He wanted to raise money for the N.A.B.D charity (the National Association for Bikers with Disabilities) in memory of his old friend Dougie Watkins, who was an expert engineer and restorer of motorcycles.
Congratulations to those Members who took part and well done on raising £1.827 for the N.A.B.D charity. The full accounts of this trip and many other articles and technical help are in the club magazine “The Directory”. If you have a Francis-Barnett or are about to buy one! Then you need the Francis-Barnett Owners Club. Don't delay join today!

Battlesbridge Classic Bike Show

The club again went along on Sunday 6th July to erect its gazebo and assorted signs to form a Fanny Bee stand. Bikes on display included 1933 Falcon, 1933 Lapwing, 1939 Cruiser, and an early 50s Merlin.  More modern FB’s were represented by an AMC and 2T Cruiser.
As last year, the weather was windy with showers, mixed with an occasional appearance of sunshine.  We had three club committee members in attendance e.g. me, our Librarian Arthur Gent and membership sec. Jack Lloyd.
Despite the weather, we received a lot of interest in our bikes and Jack managed to use up his stock of membership application forms that he took along with him. We can only hope that we have interested the people especially the younger ones to pay up and join our ranks.
Local shows are a good way to find new members.  To organize a stand, or in this case a gazebo, table and chairs takes only a little effort and is so worth while for the satisfaction you obtain in meeting new people who share our interest in Fanny-Bee bikes.

Ted Lloyd

At this years Classic Bike Show at Stafford (26/27 April), we had five machines on the Club stand, from Ted Lloyd's 1939 Cruiser F45 to Keith Clarke's Fulmar 88. Albert Burgess showed his 1959 Plover 78; a rare red machine, and Des Heckle showed his restored Powerbike, and Steve Kelly showed his Falcon 87, in original condition.
