Photo from the cancelled run. The best turn out for a few years. This could be the new run format - note the lack of bike gear.

Anniversary Run 2017

Lunch stop at Linton in Craven. A few of the bikes scattered around the village green

A few of the motley crew outside the Fountaine Inn at the lunch stop. Brian showing off his KOBI thingy proving that he hadn't forgotten it just in case Bobby turned up

Line up of bikes at the finish at the Crown Inn Car Park

The Anniversary Run organised by me (MC) and Linda was held on Sunday 8th October 2017 being the last run of the year of the section's organised road safety runs.

With a suprisingly high entry of 32, many entered on the day as it was fine weather, we set off, after the usual questions (easy this time because I had set them) from the Crown Inn at Manfield towards Richmond through Aldborough, Melsonby & Gilling West.  The route then took us over the tank road to Leyburn and on to Wensley where we had a checkpoint (more easy questions) and coffee stop at the Three Horse Shoes.

After refreshments we continued on through Coverdale passing the villages of Gammersgill, Horsehouse and Braidley then through quite a wet muddy patch which lasted about 3 miles, over Park Rash and down into Kettlewell.  Some less challenging and cleaner roads followed, through Kilnsey with it's limestone crag, Threshfield and on to Linton for the lunch stop.

After refreshments and more easy questions on Brian's favourite subject - motor racing circuits (maybe not) we carried on through the pleasant villages of Burnsall and Appletreewick and on to the B6265 road towards Pateley Bridge, but turned right off the main road after Greenhow to go down another wet muddy pot-holed road and on through Glasshouses by-passing Pateley Bridge.

After passing through Laverton, Kirby Malzeard, yet another refresment stop was to be had at the Crown Inn at the strangely named place of Grewelthorpe. Onward then through Masham, Thirn, Constable Burton, Hauxwell, Over the range road back through Richmond and finishing back at Manfield for more refreshments and results.

Excellent weather, excellent turnout.  Thanks to the organisers and marshalls Me, Linda. Yvonne & Victoria

Baydale Run 2017

A few early arrivals at the coffee stop at Hawnby.  Now we can see why Brian won - cuddling up to Maureen, one of the marshalls!

The Baydale Run 2017 organised by Bobby Robinson was held Sunday 3rd September.

After difficult questions (for some, including me) 20 riders set off on a pleasant morning from Middleton St George Cricket Club towards the coffee stop at Hawnby.  After some confusion over a broken sign post we crossed over the A19 towards Swainby (one or two ended up in Crathorne however).  After passing through Swainby carrying on to Osmotherly passing Cod Beck Reservoir, we carried on over the narrow, sometimes steep road in places to Hawnby for a welcome cuppa in the sunshine and more questions

After the break we carried on towards Boltby, Knayton, over the A19 and down a small lane (which Brian reckoned he had never been down) and on to the A168 and on to the Shorthorn Inn at South Otterington for the lunch stop.

After a pleasant lunch, spoilt by more questions, the home route took us through Great Langton via Newby Wiske, Thrintoft then through Scorton, Middleton Tyas, Croft and finishing at Hurworth on Tees at the Bay Horse (more questions) for the results, the change to the finish venue being due to a leek show being held at the Cricket Club (although some didn't seem to know about that - oops)

A good run with fine weather -  Thanks to the organisers & marshalls Bobby, Cath & Maureen
